Composer Notes: The music for this work began as sketches for a projected ballet based on Jay Williams’ fairy-tale The Silver Whistle. Unfortunately, the sponsoring ballet company went bankrupt before the project could be developed and produced.

I loved much of the music that I had sketched, and I used these sketches to create a work for narrator and orchestra using Williams’ text. However, I was never fully satisfied with that approach and eventually withdrew this work.
